How Can I Find a Good Acupuncturist?

How Can I Find a Good Acupuncturist?

Its not easy! Tons of people claim that they can perform acupuncture, and while some may be able to, only few are licensed professionals that will treat your body with respect, and help you achieve a pain-free, healthy life.

Some medical doctors will use acupuncture in their every day practice, and normally must have between 200 and 300 hours of practice before being able to perform on a patient. Those who specialize in acupuncture, however, are normally required 2,000 to 3,000 hours of practice before they can even consider practicing on a patient.

There are a few key steps to take when looking into a professional acupuncturist, which is a very serious matter. If you dont choose a true professional, you may get saddled with sub-par work, and in the end, its your body that is being stuck with needles, not theirs!

Before you call around, search for the specific requirements in your state that deal with a licensed acupuncturist. Make sure you know exactly what they need to have to be certified by the state, so that youre armed with knowledge when you walk in the door!

See if you can find a friend, relative, or co-worker thats gone to an acupuncturist, so that you can get a personal recommendation. If not, its okay youll just have to do a little more shopping around.

Call around and make appointments with businesses you think sound best not for acupuncture, but to come in and see exactly where it would happen. Make sure that they use sterile, pre-packaged needles, and that the area is completely clean, and no animals are around at all. If the needles are re-used, or not completely sterile, stay away! You could get one of a hundred infections that could leave you worse off than when you came in.

And as always, use your sense. If you dont feel comfortable with the professional, or the operation, find another professional. Its your body, and your rules dont be pushed into anything, and make sure that youre getting the best possible service.
